Children can come into their classes from 8.40am to prepare for the day. If parents arrive with their children before 8.40am they are requested to wait with them. For security reasons the front doors of the school are locked at 8.50am. Anyone arriving after 8.50am will need to come in via the office entrance.
Registers are taken at 8.50am. Children arriving after 9am will be marked as a late arrival. Parents should report to the office to sign the children in, recording the time of arrival and reason for lateness.
There is a morning playtime of 20 minutes from 10.35-10.55am for all classes. Children from Reception to Year 2 also have a 10-minute break in the afternoon. The morning ends at 12.05pm for children from Reception to Year 2 and at 12.15pm for children from Year 3 to Year 6. In the afternoon, lessons start at 1.20pm and finish at 3.15pm.
Meeting Children from School
Parents are welcome to meet their children at the main entrance in front of the school. Children from Year 3 to Year 6 leave by the side door. Parents are asked to be punctual in collecting their children at the end of the school day.
There are a few parking spaces in Tyning Road but parents are strongly encouraged to park in The George car park and walk the short distance through the churchyard to school. In order to improve safety for all children, we would like to keep the number of vehicles in Tyning Road to a minimum.
When a child is unwell, parents are asked to phone the school before 9.30am. It is also possible to ring in and leave a message reporting a child’s absence, and this can be done at any time, for example during the evening if it becomes clear that a child will not be fit for school the next day.
Parents are asked to let us know immediately if their child has an infectious illness. Please note that the Local Authority publishes guidance on certain illnesses, which requires children to be kept at home for 48 hours after the last episode. This helps to reduce the risk of passing bugs on to other children. Please phone the School Office for advice if you are unsure.
For holiday requests, please see the application form.
