At Bathampton Primary School, we value Music as an important part of the children’s entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum. It functions as a fundamental means of communication, bridging cultures, societies, languages and generations. From whole school singing to individual instrumental lessons, festive productions to class music lessons, visiting specialists to musical performances, all children are encouraged to explore their musical potential and gain confidence in their performing abilities.

Our school values are demonstrated in our music curriculum by showing; creativity when composing and making music together; respect and kindness when listening to and commenting on performances; curiosity when investigating new instruments and listening to a range of musical styles; teamwork whenever children are singing or playing instruments together and resilience is needed when trying to achieve a polished performance.  

We hope that children will make the most of all the musical opportunities in school be it in singing assemblies, Christmas production, class lessons or individual peripatetic lessons.
